Fibre optic video links offer immunity to the effects of
radiated interference, high voltage differentials, water, ground loops and the
effects of hazardous environments. The systems offered here are fully
compatible with B&W or colour NTSC, SECAM, PAL and D2MAC video
standards.
The V-250 fibre optic video link operates at an optical
wavelength of 850 nm. With its 16dB link budget it can support transmission
distances in excess of 5 km. If greater distances are required, the V-250-1300
and VX-250-1300-SM versions are available. Operating at 1300 nm fibre losses
are much lower and thus a concomitantly greater range is possible. Ranges in
excess of 9 km are possible with the V-250-1300 while the V-250-1300-SM, with
its 14dB link budget, can support transmission distances in excess of 20 km.
The V-250-1300-SM is designed for transmitting high quality video in any
standard format over much longer distances than are possible with coaxial
cable.
These fibre optic video links consists of a fibre optic
transmitter, a fibre optic receiver and two power adapters. Small in size, the
transmitter mounts directly onto the output BNC connector of the camera or
video source. The receiver is equipped with an automatic gain control that
automatically compensates for varying cable length, degradation of splices and
variations in video signal strength. Each receiver is provided with a bi-colour
LED that indicates the presence of video signals and proper operation of the
unit.
Versions of the V-250 are available with either ST or
SMA fibre optic connectors. The ST connector is compatible with 50/125 or
62.5/125 µm fibres, while the SMA will also accomodate 100/140 µm
fibres. The V-250-1300-SM is only available with ST fibre optic connectors. The
ST connector is compatible with 9/125 fibre optic cables.
