2. What are mid
IR LEDs NOT useful for?
- Cheap Communication systems. The output of these LEDs is very
low and the sensors required to go with them are expensive. Consider instead
850nm to 900nm LEDs which are a lot cheaper with a far higher optical
output.
- Near IR illumination. Cheap IR cameras work at around 800nm
to 900nm. The output of the Scitec mid IR LEDs is 1.9µm to 5.4µm so
they are completely unsuitable. Again consider 850nm to 900nm LEDs
instead.
- Any application requireing medium to high levels of light
output. The output of these IR LEDs is very small and is measured in
µW. |
