Features
The following range of laser power measuring heads is
based on thermoelectric principles, where heat generated from incident
radiation is transformed directly into a voltage.
BB and HP Series
The BB series of heads has a black broadband absorbing
coating. The HP series is equipped with a ceramic layer which allows for high
energy and power densities.
The HP25S head is specially designed for portable
applications through the use of a smaller heat sink. This gives the head
smaller dimensions but means that high powers are only possible for a short
time.
The heads need 15 to 20 seconds to reach a thermal
equilibrium before a measurement can be made. To avoid this delay, we recommend
the use of the LEM 2410 readout. This device monitors
the rate of change of the voltage from the thermopile head and calculates the
laser power from this data. Using the LEM 2410 reduces the time constant for
the whole system down to 1 second.

LP 20 for Small Laser Powers
This sensor is designed with a very high sensitivity in
order to measure very low laser powers with high precision and resolution over
the large dynamic range of six orders of magnitude.
The sensor has a high linearity and no saturation effect
at higher powers. The black absorption coating allows detection in a spectral
range of 190 nm to 25 µm.
To ensure the stability of the sensor, the housing has
been thermally isolated. Additionally, the housing has a removable tube to
protect the surface against stray light and air movement. This tube can be
replaced by special adapters for use with optical fibres.
