Fibre optic power meter with auto test

March 2009, - A hand-held fibre optic power meter with auto wavelength recognition  is offered by Scitec Instruments.

The PM-1500 fibre optic power meter, as well as measuring optical power, can be used together with the LS-1500 series light sources to enable automated measurement of  fibre loss at three wavelengths  and perform fibre identification functions. A 'store loss button' allows all three measurements to be recorded for later downloading and analysis via its USB port. Its an indispensable tool for fibre installation and test.

The PM-1500 power meter can store up to 2000 triple wavelength loss measurements, greatly simplifying measurements of fibre optic links. It incorporates a highly sensitive and stable InGaAs detector with six calibrated wavelengths that provide a measurement range of +5 to -75 dBm.

A high-powered version is available for CATV applications.

All fibre optic power meters and lights sources are equipped with universal adapters and are shipped with FC, ST and SC fittings. They are powered by a rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery and in an emergency can be powered by a standard 9V alkaline. The universal power adapter/charger is supplied with four interchangeable plugs.
